Ginger & Rosa synopsis: London, 1962. Two teenage girls - GINGER & ROSA - are inseparable. They skip school together, talk about love, religion and politics and dream of lives bigger than their mothers' domesticity. But the growing threat of nuclear war casts a shadow over their lives. Ginger (Elle Fanning) is drawn to poetry and protest, while Rosa (Alice Englert) shows Ginger how to smoke cigarettes, kiss boys and pray. Both rebel against their mothers: Rosa's single mum, Anoushka (Jodhi May), and Ginger's frustrated painter mother, Natalie (Christina Hendricks). Meanwhile, Ginger's pacifist father, Roland (Alessandro Nivola) seems a romantic, bohemian figure to the girls. He encourages Ginger's 'Ban-the-Bomb' activism, while Rosa starts to take a very different interest in him. As Ginger's parents fight and fall apart, Ginger finds emotional sanctuary with a gay couple, both named Mark (Timothy Spall and Oliver Platt), and their American friend, the poet Bella (Annette Bening). Finally, as the Cuban Missile Crisis escalates - and it seems the world itself may come to an end - the lifelong friendship of the two girls is shattered. Ginger clutches at one hope; if she can help save the world from extinction, perhaps she too will survive this moment of personal devastation. (c) A24. Review For Ginger & Rosa

Coming from anyone else, Ginger & Rosa would be a sensitive if predictable coming-of-age tale set in the mists of the distant past. But coming from writer-director Sally Potter, it's a major surprise.
Rick Groen-Globe and Mail

A near-flawless film, beautifully shot and cut, excitingly performed and deeply felt.
Colin Covert-Minneapolis Star Tribune

Fanning is nearly perfect as Ginger navigates choppier waters than most teens have to. There is not a false note in her performance; no matter how melodramatic things become, everything about Ginger remains genuine.
Bill Goodykoontz-Arizona Republic

Elle Fanning is scary. Scarily good.
Steven Rea-Philadelphia Inquirer

In all respects, this is the completely captivating Fanning's picture.
Linda Barnard-Toronto Star

Potter has a rich compositional eye, but she wisely trims the fat from the dialogue, which dances around most of the melodrama until an explosive last act.
Joe Williams-St. Louis Post-Dispatch

The complexity of the characters and the simplicity of the story balance out to a rewarding coming-of-age drama for adults.
Eric D. Snider-About.com

As if adolescence didn't involve enough angst already.
Violet Lucca-Film Comment Magazine

With a rich sense of lived experience, Potter first portrays the blithe excitement and sense of joyful conspiracy shared by the two friends.
Nicolas Rapold-Film Comment Magazine

...probably Potter's most accessible movie to date, but the script is perhaps nothing special ...
Philip Martin-Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

Nuclear anxiety becomes a distraction from teenage pressures and a projection of potentially explosive emotional distress in this beautifully acted character drama.
John Beifuss-Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN)

The gifted Elle Fanning turns in an extraordinary performance, although Sally Potter's film is otherwise built on a flimsy, soap-opera story.
Mike Scott-Times-Picayune

Assured but bleak art-house girl's coming-of-age film that combines politics and personal matters.
Dennis Schwartz-Ozus' World Movie Reviews

Despite some narrative missteps, Ginger & Rosa should be seen simply for Fanning's exceptional performance, the sort of revelatory turn that makes us feel as if the next generation of film is in capable hands.
Matt Brunson-Creative Loafing

Fanning -- a startlingly alert and microemotive young actress -- breathes real feeling into the part, while the jazz soundtrack (John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Sidney Bechet) rouses this sensitive film from its drowsier inclinations.
Kimberley Jones-Austin Chronicle

Fanning heartbreakingly expresses hurt with seemingly with every fiber of her being. Her family implodes as much as the world seems about to during those 13 days in October.
Nora Lee Mandel-Film-Forward.com

Fanning brings such a groundedness and authenticity to the film's central role that you stick with her every step of the way.
Rob Thomas-Capital Times (Madison, WI)

"Ginger & Rosa" is another one of those films that feels like it's attempting to cover too much, and by doing so, ends up spreading itself rather thin across all of the areas it tries to encompass.
Jeff Beck-Examiner.com

Even seemingly ordinary scenes of girlfriends bonding - ironing hair, wearing jeans in the bathtub to shrink them, hitchhiking - are fraught with the sense of the external forces that will divide them.
Duane Dudek-Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

The great gift of Ginger & Rosa is Potter's willingness to let her camera observe these gifted young actresses without judgment, and to create the illusion of ordinary life unfolding before your eyes.
Sarah Boslaugh-PopMatters

Without turning sentimental or heavy-handed, Potter strikes a nice balance between the more intimate character moments and the broader political context, and Fanning is terrific as the girl caught in the middle.
Todd Jorgenson-Cinemalogue.com

Ginger's teen angst could have easily become mopey or self-righteous, but Fanning stays true to the heart of her character even as her world is crumbling around her.
Mathew DeKinder-Suburban Journals of St. Louis

Review For Smyrna: The Destruction of a Cosmopolitan City - 1900-1922

A sobering study in how individual human beings can become afterthoughts in the face of broad movements like nationalism, a phenomenon that is still much in evidence almost a century later.
Neil Genzlinger-New York Times

Maria Ilioú's uninspired flake of talking-head Wikipedia cinema focuses on the forgotten Anatolian port city's post-World War I years.
Aaron Hillis-Village Voice

As an object lesson in the reactionary possibilities of a nationalist revolution, this documentary is most instructive. It is also a reminder that people of different ethnic and religious backgrounds can live together.
Louis Proyect-rec.arts.movies.reviews

A vital, heartbreaking and informative history lesson as well as a cautionary tale.

Free Download Oz the Great and Powerful Movie with Full HD Format

Oz the Great and Powerful synopsis: Disney's fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking-that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity-and even a bit of wizardry-Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well. When small-time magician Oscar Diggs (James Franco) pulls one flimflam too many, he finds himself hurled into the fantastical Land of Oz where he must somehow transform himself into the great wizard-and just maybe into a better man as well. -- (C) Walt Disney. Review For Oz the Great and Powerful

An imaginative mix of live-action and CGI that pays homage to the iconic images and timeless sense of wonder in the classic The Wizard of Oz without being too deferential.
James Berardinelli-ReelViews

Oz the Great and Powerful is entirely serviceable family entertainment. Problem is, serviceable doesn't quite cut it when you're talking about the magical land of Oz.
Randy Myers-San Jose Mercury News

Aside from a trio of witches that can hold its own with Eastwick's in the dishiness department, Oz the Great and Powerful is a peculiarly joyless occasion.
David Edelstein-New York Magazine

Let us take a moment to praise two great and surprisingly powerful characters: a winged monkey and a wee girl made out of china. Because so much human wonder resides in these two creations of make-up, puppetry, digital effects and lovely performances.
Lisa Kennedy-Denver Post

The new Oz falls short of the 1939 Oz in charm and innocence, and certainly in songs. But as family entertainment, it's hard to fault such a rapturous spectacle and astute, suspenseful piece of storytelling.
Tom Charity-CNN.com

Oz the Great and Powerful somehow manages to be both slavish to its hallowed template (when convenient) and completely tone-deaf to the magic that made it a one-of-a-kind cultural milestone.
Chris Vognar-Dallas Morning News

A marvelously candy-colored and overall-pretty-fun-nothing-great-but-it's-all-right fantasy adventure.
Eric D. Snider-EricDSnider.com

Director Sam Raimi creates a magical experience for viewers in this beautiful and engaging prequel to "The Wizard of Oz."
John Hanlon-Big Hollywood

...Oz the Great and Powerful fares somewhat better than most similarly-themed, geared-at-kids big-budget fare.
David Nusair-Reel Film Reviews

It strays so far from the whimsy and joy of the original that you forget the two films are even part of the same universe.
Will Leitch-Deadspin

A poorly written film with a vibrant palette that cannot hide the wickedness in its soul.
Wesley Lovell-Cinema Sight

I may sound like I'm tripping in a field of poppies, but the secret to this film's success seems to be James Franco.
James Plath-Movie Metropolis

This eye-filling fantasy is an entertaining riff on how the Wizard of that immortal film found his way to Oz.
Leonard Maltin-indieWIRE

Thick with director Sam Raimi's gonzo flourishes, but thin on character.
John Serba-MLive.com

For a movie that looks gorgeous, evokes memories of a cinematic classic and boasts a bundle of star power, Oz the Great and Powerful is oddly flat.
Forrest Hartman-Reno Gazette-Journal

The funny, warm-hearted "Wizard of Oz" prequel "Oz the Great and Powerful" veers far enough from the Yellow Brick Road paved by the original film to avoid dangerous direct comparisons.
Carla Meyer-Sacramento Bee

It pushes its gospel of modern "magic" - one third science, one third show biz, one third motivational speech - with Disney Channel earnestness.
Margot Harrison-Seven Days

Raimi's 'Oz' is nothing more than a grand theft of a 74-year-old vision, thinly veiled in over-saturated colors and populated with action-figure friendly characters sure to set the Mouse's cash registers ringing.
Al Alexander-The Patriot Ledger

True...the odds were stacked against Raimi in his film that has some moments but hardly seems momentous.
Bruce Bennett-Spectrum (St. George, Utah)

big and splashy but tin-eared
Chris Barsanti-Film Racket

Looking backwards in more ways than one.
Cynthia Fuchs-PopMatters

Stunning visuals, some suprising plot twists, dreadfully mediocre dialogue delivered by a woefully miscast James Franco.
Marc Fennell-Triple J

Sam Raimi has managed to recapture the feel and charm of the original 'Wizard of Oz'... and that may be the greatest compliment of all.
Kevin A. Ranson-MovieCrypt.com

The script is the real problem, lacking in humor and wit (not to mention jaunty musical numbers) and emphasizing the type of sensory overload that seems to pass for family entertainment these days.
Todd Jorgenson-Cinemalogue.com

Raimi tries to go all in, but the update can't match the character of the original
Robert Denerstein-Movie Habit

There were things that offered promise... but one after the other, they blended into the blandness of the storytelling.

Hava Nagila: The Movie synopsis: It is instantly recognizable - musical shorthand for anything Jewish, a happy party tune that you dance to at weddings, bar mitzvahs and even at Major League Baseball games. It conjures up wistful smiles, memories of generations past...and no shortage of eye rolling. But as audiences will discover in Hava Nagila (The Movie), the song is much more than a tale of Jewish kitsch and bad bar mitzvah fashions. It carries with it an entire constellation of history, values and hopes for the future. In its own believe-it-or-not way, Hava Nagila encapsulates the Jewish journey over the past 150 years. It also reveals the power of one song to express and sustain identity, to transmit lessons across generations and to bridge cultural divides and connect us all on a universal level. Review For Hava Nagila: The Movie

Thankfully there are enough eloquent talking heads to keep this watchable.
Ben Sachs-Chicago Reader

A slight, but very satisfying, and at times, surprisingly moving, documentary about the inescapable Jewish anthem and wedding and bar mitzvah music staple.
Donald Liebenson-Chicago Sun-Times

An entertaining examination of the "kitschy and profound" song's cultural and historical origins.
Loren King-Boston Globe

It's a fun, nostalgic, informative journey.
Gary Goldstein-Los Angeles Times

The attitude is so much fun and the story so involving that a little naches is forgivable.
John Anderson-Newsday

Even the occasional bad jokes feel like part of this story.
Stephen Whitty-Newark Star-Ledger

You know you're in for an irreverent documentary when the narrator asks: "What's up with this song?"
Chris Knight-National Post

The film isn't slick and doesn't have the greatest production values I've ever seen, but it's still an enjoyable romp through the history of a great song.
Stephen Silver-EntertainmentTell

A whimsical and even occasionally profound documentary about the origins of this time-honoured Jewish tune.
Bill Brownstein-Montreal Gazette

It is annoying, frustrating, embarrassing, and irresistible, which makes it a perfect Rorschach test and intriguing metaphor for contemporary Jewish identity.
Nell Minow-Beliefnet

What does it mean? Do we really care? We should.
Ron Wilkinson-Monsters and Critics

Balancing the anecdotal with the informative, this charming docu at once celebrates and explains the origins of the iconic Jewish tune.
Emanuel Levy-EmanuelLevy.Com

As one interviewee says the song "is a melody that evokes new life, hope, and joy." The song does that and so does HAVA NAGILA (THE MOVIE).
Mark R. Leeper-Mark Leeper's Reviews

Fun and illuminating...The movie as well as the song serve as fitting, entertaining testaments to the resilience of the Jewish people.
Fr. Chris Carpenter-Movie Dearest

Entertainingly traces the origins of the ubiquitous song and how it became worldwide kitsch [but] gets wearyingly redundant like a party that has gone on too long.
Nora Lee Mandel-Film-Forward.com

Everything you ever wanted to know about Hava Nagila but were afraid to ask, except:: 'What's the deal with the ritual of raising a chair in the air like you don't care?'
Kam Williams-NewsBlaze

One of those rare, crowd-pleasing documentaries that compels you to tap your toes and leaves you with a great big smile on your face from ear to ear upon exiting the theater.
Avi Offer-NYC Movie Guru

Comprehensive yet lighthearted dissection of one very popular song is a pretty surefire audience winner.

Review For Rubberneck

A creepy number, half suspense drama and half brooding character study, with a strong dash of local flavor and a low-budget feel.
Ty Burr-Boston Globe

Karpovsky's pic seldom surprises, its strengths lying in a leisurely journey toward a clearly predestined denouement.
Ronnie Scheib-Variety

One can only watch so many shots of the daily goings-on in a research facility without tuning out a bit.
Sara Stewart-New York Post

Immediately put me in mind of the classic slow burn of vintage thrillers like Fritz Lang's "M" and Michael Powell's "Peeping Tom"...
Andrew O'Hehir-Salon.com

It's dragged down by non-scene after non-scene, and filmmaking choices that don't earn their keep.
Rachel Saltz-New York Times

Both the mystery and the character piece wind up feeling incomplete.
Ian Buckwalter-NPR

Alex Karpovsky's performance digs out the character's menacing, damaged and sympathetic qualities in equal measure.
Robert Levin-amNewYork

A disturbing and deceptively subtle psychological thriller ...
Peter Keough-Boston Phoenix

"Rubberneck" charts Paul's mental deterioration, the tension stretched well beyond his breaking point and my patience.
Greg Evans-Bloomberg News

Rubberneck feels more like an attempt to pull off a psychological thriller than a credible example of same, as if it were a sample reel for some future project.
Scott Tobias-AV Club

Boston-area actor-writer-director Alex Karpovsky creates an original story of obsession, delusion and murder that is fresh and well made.
Robin Clifford-Reeling Reviews

Although it's initially jarring to see Karpovsky tackle overly serious material both behind and in front of the camera, "Rubberneck" has more in common with the growing Karpovsky oeuvre than it may appear -- and even inadvertently critiques it.
Eric Kohn-indieWIRE

With Hitchcockian self-assurance, Karpovsky is able to inject an element of surprise and uncertainty even into the film's final moments.
Marshall Fine-Hollywood & Fine

The film takes on high-concept ideas that it can't sustain, and which only make its other problems more obvious.
Jesse Cataldo-Slant Magazine

...this is impressive filmmaking, especially from a filmmaker who also delivers a complex, sympathetic performance despite his character's unsettling characteristics.

Review For The Place Beyond The Pines

This naturalistic drama is ambitious to the point of being unwieldy... But once the story has advanced from one generation to the next and its thematic sweep has become apparent, these flaws seem much more tolerable.
J. R. Jones-Chicago Reader

"Pines" is hardy stuff, but it's at its toughest when Gosling's on screen.
Tom Long-Detroit News

The Place Beyond the Pines is hackneyed and dull: Not a single moment rings true.
Rene Rodriguez-Miami Herald

This is a story about legacy, the sins of the father, the restlessness in our souls. It's powerful, it's bold, it hits you hard.
Steven Rea-Philadelphia Inquirer

Cianfrance and his sterling cast keep it all together, vanquishing doubt and soap suds. There's a palpable sense of teamwork that brings out the best in all of these players.
Peter Howell-Toronto Star

Its three stories are so loosely connected, its themes so scattered -- morality, justice, fate, fatherhood -- that it never manages to make a point.
Rafer Guzman-Newsday

Bites off a little more than it can chew in that respect, but it's still a deeply affecting drama with a powerful impact.
Eric D. Snider-About.com

With The Place Beyond the Pines, Derek Cianfrance definitively establishes himself as an up-and-coming filmmaker with serious potential...
David Nusair-Reel Film Reviews

Stretches the scope of the film well beyond crime thriller.
Frances Morton-Flicks.co.nz

An ambitious and thought-provoking film with a beautiful score and some of the biggest narrative twists of the year.
John Hanlon-Big Hollywood

Motivation is the weak link here, with characters major and minor making choices that don't compute and/or serve mainly to advance the narrative down the next twist of track toward the tragedy looming on the horizon.
Nicolas Rapold-Film Comment Magazine

While it feels frustratingly disjointed, The Place Beyond The Pines also possesses moments of real power.
Martin Roberts-Fan The Fire

By linking [three vignettes], Cianfrance explores larger themes that enrich the otherwise patience-testing 140-minute experience.
John Serba-MLive.com

A memorable, thoughtful tale; a thriller with real meat on the bone.
Simon Miraudo-Quickflix

Would Pines have worked better as a 13-episode cable drama? Probably. Yet its atmosphere comes through beautifully on the big screen.
Margot Harrison-Seven Days

Cianfrance uses the film's gritty visuals to enhance the character's experiences, starting with a vibe reminiscent of a 90's thrash metal video clip, then moving into police footage territory before ultimately setting a wistful tone for the third act.
David 'Mad Dog' Bradley-Rip It Up

The film is unfortunately front-loaded with more art movie cliches than you can count, but once they get out the way the trans-generational story does close its grip on you.
Jim Schembri-3AW

"Place Beyond the Pines" will not lift spirits. Yet there are hints of hope attached to the film's view that change is possible -- if people can just get out of their own way.
Carla Meyer-Sacramento Bee

A huge leap forward for Cianfrance, who is rapidly distinguishing himself as a true auteur.
Al Alexander-The Patriot Ledger

Bleak, raw, epic and vibrating with energy, Pines is a film to haunt your dreams, and, so far, the best thing I've seen in a cinema in 2013.
Adam Ross-The Aristocrat

While it is still a rewarding film on face value, The Place Beyond the Pines offers additional pleasures for viewers keen to delve further.
Thomas Caldwell-Cinema Autopsy

...the best kind of film: big enough to be bracing, but small enough to draw you right in, and then exercise a firm, vice-like grip.
Erin Free-FILMINK (Australia)

It's the interesting characters and their thought-provoking choices that make this film so compelling.
Matthew Toomey-ABC Radio Brisbane

An ambitious and twisting crime drama about fathers, sons and responsibility.
Tom Glasson-Concrete Playground

Cianfrance creates a layered and moving portrait of working-class life, of people trying-- in many of the wrong ways-- to improve lives for themselves and the generations to come.
Katey Rich-CinemaBlend.com

This ambitious tale of tragedy and redemption among fathers and sons is told in three parts and, despite a superb performance from Ryan Gosling, is less than the sum of its parts.
Simon Weaving-Screenwize

Eddie The Sleepwalking Cannibal synopsis: Thure Lindhardt (Keep the Lights On) stars in this quirky dark comedy as Lars, a former darling of the art scene slipping away into the land of has-beens and struggling with lack of inspiration. His art dealer Ronny arranges a teaching job in a small town as a "therapeutic measure" to stir up some creative juices, but things never turn out quite as planned. At first, life in the peaceful small town seems rosy, as the young man settles in and impresses beautiful fellow colleague Leslie, by taking in the brawny, mute Eddie after the latter's caregiver passes away. But Lars soon discovers that the façade of serenity hides something unimaginable: Eddie suffers from a rare form of sleepwalking that transforms him from docile, cereal-obsessed art student into ravenous sleepwalking cannibal craving fresh meat. Initially horrified by Eddie's dark secret, Lars becomes enthralled by the not-so-gentle giant: at long last, here's the muse he'd been searching for high and low! Exceptional art does indeed come at a very high price, even the cost of human lives...and how far is Lars willing to go for his next masterpiece?. Review For Eddie The Sleepwalking Cannibal

This deliberately tasteless horror-comedy might appeal to gore hounds and fans of gross-out humor; but as with many films that strive for cult status, any potential exploitation-movie pleasures are overwhelmed by an air of smug self-awareness.
Ben Sachs-Chicago Reader

Thankfully, Lindhardt keeps things together with an appealing performance that constantly oscillates between drama and very light, dry humor without sacrificing the slightly otherworldly nature of his character.
Boyd van Hoeij-Variety

This would-be cult item runs out of steam after its establishes its wickedly satirical premise.
Frank Scheck-Hollywood Reporter

Despite the theme, "Eddie" goes easy on gratuitous gore. What we get is a cerebral horror movie and a satire of the art world.
V.A. Musetto-New York Post

A flawed but diverting meditation on finding inspiration while losing your soul.
Jeannette Catsoulis-New York Times

Allegedly a horror-comedy, it's neither comic nor, despite several scenes of a bloodied Smith in his tighty-whities, particularly horrifying ...
David Fear-Time Out New York

Boris Rodriguez's movie sadly ends up being neither an effective horror movie nor a memorable satire. It just kind of, pardon me for going there, sleepwalks through its clever set-up.
Brian Tallerico-HollywoodChicago.com

A quirky but unfulfilling Canadian-Danish horror-comedy that has a substantial helping of originality on its side, but not much in the way of inspired execution.
Brent Simon-Shockya.com

It's not often I question content in a horror film, but after sleepwalking dully through Rodriguez's movie, I can only shrug and ask myself what just happened - with the least amount of interest.
Matt Donato-We Got This Covered

A dark comedy driven by spot-on digs at academia, cutthroat art-world competition and the quest for inspiration.
Maitland McDonagh-Film Journal International

Beneath the surface outrageousness lies a surprisingly, satisfyingly dark little fable about the essentially cannibalistic nature of artistic inspiration.
Mike D'Angelo-AV Club

Because the film clearly aims for satire, Boris Rodriguez isn't entirely guilty of indulging gruesome spectacle for its own sake.
Budd Wilkins-Slant Magazine

[VIDEO ESSAY] Fine-tuning the nuances cannibals, rather than zombies, proves modestly rewarding in a dark little comedy that owes more to Roger Corman's "Bucket of Blood" than it does to "Dawn of the Dead."
Cole Smithey-ColeSmithey.com

An unlikely-buddy horror flick which figured a viable way of walking a fine line between the sadistic and the sublime.
Kam Williams-Sly Fox
